Hi, I’m Daniela.
I’m a chef turned food photographer, stylist, and creative director with a gorgeous prop-filled studio in Venice Beach.
I began my career as a chef in Kauai, sourcing vibrantly sustainable produce directly from local farms then opened a boutique catering company in San Francisco, cultivating close relationships with growers and designing highly customized seasonal menus for private clients.
That same year, I snapped my first food photo to post on IG — and it was love at first click.
I immersed myself in food photography while still working as a chef, merging my worlds – cooking, styling & shooting the food.
Eventually, I moved down the coast and launched Daniela Gerson Photography in 2020 — a full-scale studio where I cook, style and shoot for brands like Cabot Creamery, Miyabi Knives, and Empress Gin, bringing their creative campaigns to life with stills and motion.
I’M AN ARTIST — AND FOOD IS MY MEDIUM.
I love emphasizing the beauty of real, seasonal food — especially the rich colors and textures of fresh fruits and veggies. Through my art, I strive to foster a better understanding of where our food comes from, encouraging more mindful choices that better the planet and ourselves.
And this blog? It’s where I play - and hope to inspire ya to get playful in the kitchen too. Expect lots of colorful veggies with some other deliciousness too.

If I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me surfing the Cali coast, hosting colorful dinner parties, or teaching my niece & nephew how to braid pink + purple challah.
