“Actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures.” Lewis Carroll Alice in Wonderland.
I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of being a world traveler my entire life. Born and raised in Cali, with parents from Mexico City, I grew up frequently going back and forth between the two. I did the majority of my schooling in Cali but also stints studying in Mexico City. We mostly vacationed when I was a child (think beaches…lots and lots and lots of beaches, especially in Spanish-speaking countries) and really started traveling as a family when I was a teen. It was of utmost importance to my parents that we see and understand how the rest of the world lives. Whenever, as children, we would complain that life wasn’t fair, my mom would always explain that life is not fair. And if it was, we wouldn’t be this lucky.
My first solo adventure was at 18, the summer before college, in Brazil and I pretty much haven’t stopped solo-adventuring ever since. I really believe that as long as there’s a will to travel, there’s a way. I thrive on getting out of my comfort zone. The hardest part is just getting on that damn flight. I’ve applied to countless programs, and grants, and volunteer opportunities just to go to far off foreign lands - and it’s always been worth it, each and every single time. Upon my return, that land never seems quite as far off or foreign.
“The world is a book and those who do not travel real only one page. Saint Augustine.”
The summer after Brazil, I studied abroad in Prague, backpacking all over Eastern Europe, followed by a semester in Uganda, traveling all over Eastern and Southern Africa. Next, I spent a summer dancing my tushy off in Ibiza, backpacking again over Western Europe. From there, it was volunteering in Guatemala and exploring Central America, then South America, and the adventures just keep on going. Moving to Israel, at 24, for 6 years, meant that my home base was in whole other part of the world to explore from and believe me, I took full advantage!
“Now more than ever do I realize that I will never be content with a sedentary life, that I will always be haunted by a sun-drenched elsewhere.” Isabelle Ebeshardt
All in all, I’m just really good at traveling! If yak want a travel companion I’m in! Been to xxx continents, ccc countries, and am so excited to be finally have a space to be documenting some of these adventures.
I always say that we don’t have the privilege to travel in time but we do in space so lets be absolutely sure to take full advantage and explore this lovely planet of ours,
