Done a few ski trips this year and have rounded up that very best of the *best* in Squaw Valley! This is based on heavily extensive but unscientific research eating, boozing, skiing, and chatting up lots of locals! Have a place ya love that’s not on here?!?!! Enlighten me in the comments below and I’ll surely check it out on my next visit!

This year I’ve stayed in both the Resort at Squaw Creek and the Squaw Valley Lodge and wanna do some quickie comparisons in case you’re trying to decide between the two (or between the Resort and anywhere in the Village)

Resort at Squaw Creek: It’s a bit of a remote all encompassing word in itself. Ski in/out access, golf course, spa, outdoor heated pools, outdoor hot tub, gym, and 6 café’s/restaurants on the property. I’m not sure if the architect got the memo that it snows in Tahoe and I’m quite confused on the layout of the place. You can’t go ANYWHERE on the property without going outside, and being that there was a 4 day snowstorm the entire time I was there that made for the quite the adventure and quite the trek moving around the property. They offer shuttle service, every 30 min, from 6am to 10pm, to Olympic Village and back. After skiing all day the last thang I wanna do is schlep anywhere and staying here felt a bit too isolated for me…. but perhaps that’s your jam!
Self Parking: it’s outdoors. So the car has to be big time shoveled when it snows!

Squaw Valley Lodge: Ski in/out of Squaw Valley, all-condo hotel with gym, outdoor pool, indoor hot tubs. It’s not fancy but has everything you could ever need and the added bonus of being right in Olympic Village. I didn’t get back in my car the entire trip I stayed here! Just hopped over to Olympic Village on foot for anything and everything I could possible need. In terms of location, this spot cannot be beat!
And there’s an indoor self parking garage… I’m a big fan of this!
