Berries
Nothing quite epitomizes summer like the abundance of the seasons sweet berries arriving to the farmers markets in all the colors of the rainbow! Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, mulberries, elderberries, boysenberries, grapes, and cranberries and more!
There are over 400 varieties of berries! WHOA!!!
They tend to be round-ish, small-ish, with bright colors and range in flavor from sweet, sour or tart.
This is an equal opportunity berry blog that celebrates every color of the berry rainbow!
Reds, pinks, yellows, golds, purple, blues, blacks (yes black raspberries) and all the hues in between!
For the most part, berries can be interchanged in these recipes in a pinch. Just keep in mind their varying degrees of sweetness and juiciness and modify rest of ingredients accordingly.
Storing: Best to store most berries dry in the fridge. Don’t wash them until right before you’re ready to eat ‘em! Soggy berries go bad damn fast and we want to extend our precious berry lives as much as possible!
Season: summer
