    Cucurbits

Curcur-huh? That’s exactly what I thought too but I needed a category for my summer melons that was a bit more expansive and here we are.

Cucurbits include: Cucumbers, Squash, Zucchini, Melons (such was watermelon, cantaloupe, etc.) and Pumpkins (did ya know this produce was all related?!).

For the culinary sake of the blog, squashes & pumpkins will be under root veggies.

Cucurbits come in all colors, shapes and sizes and range in texture and flavor.

Season: peak for melon is summer, some variety of cucurbits are available year round.
Prep: raw, steamed, boiled, roasted, sautéed, grilled.
