You can’t stop the waves… but you can learn to surf…
Which is exactly what I did, at 28, while living in Israel. I’m a born and raised Cali gal but it took 4 full years of living in the Middle East before I ever even contemplated surfing. Took a class, got on my first wave, and was hooked…or shall I say BIG TIME borderline obsessively hooked to be *slightly* more accurate. A few surf trip and many, many, many hours in the water later I talked my way onto the Tel Aviv High School Surf Team. Nope, I myself was not actually in high school (haven’t ya been following?!)…but I became the only female, the only non-Israeli and the only non high schooler on the Tel Aviv high school surf team from 2010-2012. We trained twice a week and it rocked!
And then I shattered and broke 5 vertebrates while taking a kite surfing lesson and found myself immobilized in the hospital, being told I might never walk again. Still trying to find the appropriate place on here to share that story in full, as it permeates every single aspect of my life, every single day. So now I’m 7 vertebrates down and up a whole lot of hardware later. The desire to get back in the water fueled my whole healing process. Immobilized in the hospital, I asked the Doc when I would be able to surf again before I asked when I’d be able to walk… I’m so grateful for the role that the ocean and surfing has played in my life.
“When someone tells you it cannot be done, it is more a reflection of their limitations, not yours.”
I’m a surfer and love living a surf lifestyle. Constantly checking conditions, tides, swells, winds, and traveling all over the word to explore waves. This is meant to be the place where I share about my surfing adventures and all thing surf. To date, I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of surfing in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Portugal, France, Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, El Salvador, California and Israel. And my latest surf adventure was Japan just last week! Stay tuned, blog post coming soon and its the very first surf adventure I document on here.
